The nurse and her friend hailed the pedicab at $3 per minute but abandoned the ride shortly after starting. When she tried to pay $3.50 for the brief time spent, Soumano demanded $15. After a dispute, Soumano allegedly punched the nurse in the head. The situation escalated until a couple intervened, and the nurse called the police. Soumano was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, though he denies the physical attack, claiming he only insulted her.
